Open Letter to Kalfas et al. and Affiliated Institutions

This open letter responds to the July 2025 JAMA Psychiatry review authored by Kalfas et al., and the institutional press releases that promoted it. Written on behalf of individuals harmed by antidepressant withdrawal, the letter calls out the review’s failure to meaningfully include long-term users—the very population most at risk for severe, protracted withdrawal. It urges the authors and affiliated institutions, including King’s College London, Imperial College London, and the Science Media Centre, to issue corrections and acknowledge the real-world harm caused by minimizing withdrawal.
